Being Church in Strange Times - 10

Saturday 11 April 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday and we celebrate with joy that Christ is Risen! Even though we cannot come together to celebrate, I hope we will nevertheless remember one another and Christians all over the world as we give thanks in our own homes. We are united with the whole church in the joy of the Risen Lord.

The Easter Sunday service will be on the website later today. You will find it here.

Many thanks to Hector for all his hard work, time, and technological skill in putting the material on the website, and Art for choosing YouTube versions of hymns. We are also trying to involve more people in the services and record different voices reading the readings. Thank you to Peter for writing the intercessions.

Alongside our St Ursula's Easter service, I am attaching an order for 'spiritual communion' from the Diocese. Bishop Robert writes: 'Many will be familiar with the tradition (set out in the service of the Visitation of the Sick in the Book of Common Prayer) of making a spiritual communion. This practice embodies an ardent desire to receive Jesus in the sacrament and to know his loving embrace as though we had received him in the elements. We attach a possible order for this that some may wish to use, for example on Easter Sunday.'

After the service on Sunday morning, the Men's Bible Study group will meet via Zoom at 10.45am. If you have't received David's email about this, but would like to join this meeting, please let me know.

There will also be a Zoom 'coffee meeting' at 11.30am which is open to everyone. It would be very good to see one another on this special day. If you would like to join in, and have not already received the log in details please email event(at)stursula.ch so that you can receive them.

I pray that we will all know the joy and peace of the Risen Lord's presence with us, and that this will give us strength, courage and hope for the weeks ahead.

I attach an Easter card with a prayer, and a couple of photos.

Peace be with you.
Helen
