Being Church in Strange Times - 36

Saturday 11 July 2020

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I look forward to seeing many of you at church tomorrow. It will be my last service for a few weeks as we will then be away for two weeks holiday followed by a few days retreat. I will be back for Sunday 2nd August. During my absence, our Archdeacon Adele Kelham will be here taking the services. I'm very grateful to her for her support. Please do make her warmly welcome.

As I will not be sending messages out of these next few weeks, below is a summary of the details for the next few Sundays.

Booking will open on Monday 13th and close on Wednesday 15th. Booking link is:https://www.trybooking.com/BKHKY Or you can ring the office on 031 352 85 67. The online services will continue. Tomorrow's service and the subsequent services (when they have been prepared) will be found at http://www.stursula.ch/Services/index.html The service is usually put online by the Saturday afternoon each week.

.Maria, our administrator is away on holiday for a much needed break for the next 4 weeks, and we are grateful to Ruby for her work in the church office while Maria is away.

The Men's Bible Study Group and Coffee Discussion Group will NOT be meeting over the next few weeks, but the Lectio Divina meetings, 10.30am on Thursdays, will continue as Brian has kindly offered to them. Please let Brian or Sue know if you would like to attend.

Several people have said that they were sorry to miss the Diocesan Restoration Service last Tuesday. I am attaching a copy of the liturgy and the sermon below.

I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard over the last few weeks to organise our return to church and to put together the online services. I know this requires a lot of time, effort and co-ordination. Thank you, too, for all the encouraging emails I have received over the last few months. I am very grateful for your support.

I hope that these coming weeks are a time of refreshment and blessing for you all whether you are staying at home or going away. May you be held in God's love and find grace, strength, hope and peace.

A Prayer

Almighty God,
you have made us for yourself,
and our hearts are restless till they find their rest in you:
pour your love into our hearts and draw us to yourself,
and so bring us at last to your heavenly city
where we shall see you face to face;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen

With my love in Christ,
Helen
