Being Church in Strange Times - 85

Wednesday 23 June 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I look forward to seeing many of you this Sunday. There are a few seats left so if you would like to come, please if possible contact the office before 11am tomorrow. After that you can call me on 077 495 7419. If you book a seat and then are unable to come please let me know, so I can offer the seat to someone else.

As usual, you can also follow the service online. We are all very thankful to Hector, Martin and Art for making this possible.

Eco-Church Meeting: TONIGHT, Wednesday 23rd June, 7-8.15pm
The Eco Group invite you to join us this evening for a discussion about how we can further develop our care for the environment as individuals and as a church. We already have the bronze Eco-Church award and we are now working towards silver and gold. All ideas are welcome. Ask me for the zoom link.

Sharing Transport to Church
As part of our concern for the environment, the Eco group of the church would like to encourage those who drive to church to consider offering lifts to church services and events when possible. If you are interested in having a lift to church, or could offer others a lift, please let Maria in the office know. There are also some sign-up sheets in church.

Eco-Garden
Please do feel free to take some of the lettuces or strawberries in the plant-boxes near the seating area by the church hall. And if you have time, please pick up some of the pine cones! The church grounds are looking fantastic at the moment. A huge thank you to all the gardening team.

Lectio
Lectio Divina continues on Thursdays, 10.30-11.15am, as we meet (via zoom) to meditate in silence on a short biblical passage and then share our reflections. Come and join us! Let me know if you would like more details.

As I write this I am looking at the sunshine through the window. I hope you are are enjoying the light and warmth and colour of summer (even in the midst of the thunderstorms!). I leave you with a blessing for summer from The Seasons' Benedictions by Malcolm Guite.

Summer
When young-leafed June is summoned by the sun,
And new-mown grass breathes fragrance through the air,
When work is over, holidays begun,
May peace and pleasure in themselves be prayer.
And in your leisure may you hear the one
Who is your blessing and by whom you're blest
Still calling you: Come unto me and rest.

With love in Christ,
Helen
