Being Church in Strange Times - 99

Wednesday 20 October 2021

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Autumn sunshine and able to appreciate the wonders of God's creation.

I look forward to seeing many of you on Sunday. If you have booked a seat and you are then are unable to come please let me know on 077 495 7419 so that I can offer the seat to anyone else who may ask for one. Please let me know by Saturday evening if you can.

If you are unable to be in church with us you can follow the service online at: Service Resources at St Ursula's Church, Berne. We are all very thankful to Hector, Martin and Art for making this possible.

Living in Love and Faith
The Church of England has asked all churches to run a 5 week course exploring identity, sexuality, relationships and marriage from a Christian perspective. The third session of the course will be on Tuesday 26th. Please let me know if you would like to attend as the numbers are limited.
If would like to look at some of the material yourself you can find it at the Living in Love and Faith Learning Hub.

Gardening Day
The gardening team would appreciate help at the next gardening day on Saturday 30th October, 9.30am - 2pm. It is usually also very enjoyable and there is a great team spirit (and good snacks available!). If you are able to join the team at any point during that day, do contact Sue Higson.

All Saints and All Souls Service, 31st October
During this service we will be remembering loved ones who have died and commending them to God. If you would like the name of a loved one read out, please let the office know by Wednesday 27th October. Many thanks.

Christmas Bazaar: Friday 26th and Saturday 27th November
Plans have already started for this. We still need volunteers to help with setting up and running various stalls. If you are able to help, please be in touch with Maria in the office. We hope to move chairs and tables after church on Sunday 21st ready for the Bazaar and would be grateful for help then. Thank you.

I leave you with a poem which celebrates Autumn.

Autumn
Now for the harvest! All is rich and full;
The swelling grape is ripe upon the vine,
So may his blessing sanctify your fall,
And old love be remembered in new wine.
Now may your ears be open to his call,
You stand on holy ground, look up and see;
His love burns red and gold in every tree.

With love in Christ,
