Being Church in Strange Times – 104

Wednesday 24 November 2021

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

This Friday and Saturday is our Christmas Bazaar. This is both in person and online. If you are wanting to pre-order food and goods online to pick up on Saturday, please do book before 7pm today when the site closes.

For those of you who are coming in person, the Bazaar is open 5.00pm - 7.30pm on Friday and 10am - 2pm on Saturday

  • On Friday, we will be serving raclette and vegetable soup, mince pies and gluhwein. All food and drink must be consumed outside due to COVID risks.
  • On Saturday, we will be serving chili con carne, which can either be eaten outside or bought as a take away. Gluhwein, coffee and cakes will also be available to eat outside.
  • The food stall and book stall will be open, Advent wreaths and Christmas decorations, freshly made crumpets and cakes will be on sale.
  • We do still need more cakes to sell, so if you are able to bake cakes and bring them they will be gratefully received.
  • The raffle will be drawn at regular intervals so do buy your raffle tickets early to maximise your chances of winning a prize!
  • Tents will be put up but it will be very cold so please dress very warmly.
  • Please remember to bring your COVID certificate and ID with you as this will be needed to enter the building.
  • Masks must be worn at all times inside.

I want to say a huge thank you to Maria and all those who have organised and worked so hard to prepare for this Bazaar.

This Sunday, 28th November, we celebrate Advent Sunday. Please remember to book a seat if you would like to come. This Sunday will be a non-certificate Sunday which means numbers have to be kept to under 50.

If you are unable to be in church with us on Sunday you can follow the service online at: Service Resources at St Ursula's Church, Berne. We are all very thankful to Hector, Martin and Art for making this possible.

Remembering Claire Morgenthaler
Many of you will remember Claire Morgenthaler, a long term member of this community who died in September. Those who would like the opportunity to share memories of Claire with other friends are invited to an informal gathering in the Lower Hall, on Sunday 5th December, 11.30am.

Advent Prayer
Keep us, O Lord,
while we tarry on this earth,
in a serious seeking after you,
and in an affectionate walking with you,
every day of our lives;
that when you come,
we may be found not hiding our talents,
nor serving the flesh,
not yet asleep with our lamps unfurnished,
but waiting and longing for our Lord,
our glorious God for ever.
Amen.

With love in Christ,
Helen
