Being Church at All Times – 172

Wednesday 7 June 2023

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful sunny weather! We hope it will stay fine for Saturday when we will hold our Summer Fête.

Summer Fête, Saturday 10th June, 10:00 - 15:00.
Come along and enjoy our usual food stall, book stall, homemade goods, gift items, raffle and tombola and children's activities. The restaurant and cafe will be open all day. Please pre-order crumpets, scones and pies, and other gift items /here:
Items from the Food Stall need to be purchased at the Sale itself.

We still need help running stalls, setting up and clearing up and baking cakes. If you are able to help, please let the office know.

All Age Special Eucharist, Sunday 11th June
This Sunday will be a special service for several reasons:

  • It will be an All Age service when the children stay in church and are involved in the service in different ways.
  • We are inviting everyone to write their name on a name-tag. These will be provided when you arrive at church. This relates to the theme of the service, and gives us the opportunity to get to learn the names of more people in church (and remind ourselves of the names we've forgotten!).
  • Please come to church a little earlier so that you can fill in a name tag if you would like to. (This is not compulsory, of course!).
  • If children would like to design a name-tag at home and decorate it and bring it to the service, that would be wonderful.
  • On Sunday, we will also be including in our service a short liturgy of Thanksgiving for the life of Fionn Roser. Please keep Fionn, his parents Miriam and Dominic, and his brothers Cem and Mael in your prayers.

Further Fundraiser: Guided Walk in Bremgarten, Saturday 17th June
To further add to our church funds, Cecily has kindly offered to lead a guided walk around the Roman/Celtic remains of Bremgarten, which would also include a trip on the Zehendermätteli ferry. We hope this might also be a good social event. We will be meeting at Bremgarten Schloss bus stop at 10:01 (bus no 21 from Bern Bahnhof at 09:50), and the event will be finished by lunchtime. If you are interested in coming to this event, please let the office know.
NB We need to know numbers in advance.

A Blessing for Summer

When young-leaved June is summoned by the sun,
And new-mown grass breathes fragrance through the air,
When work is over, holidays begun,
May peace and pleasure in themselves be prayer.
And in your leisure may you hear the one
Who is your blessing and by whom you're blest
Still calling you: Come unto me and rest.

Malcolm Guite

With love in Christ,
Helen
