Worship Committee
3 November 1992

Present: Leong Tuck, Hector Davie, Sheila Camhi, Wendy Astor, David Wotherspoon, Barbara Winfield, Trevor Whitfield

Apologies: Ian Butler, Mary-Lou Gugelmann-Melville

The meeting opened with prayer.

Remembrance Sunday. The first service will be slightly informal. The second service will be formal with the official attendance of the British Ambassador.

Review of the weekly monthly meeting. Now music is planned at a team meeting . There was a desire to have a music group lead in the Service of Holy Communion. Thanks was expressed to Robbie and Richard Stern for their help so far in preparing music for the communion.

The piano is now at the back of the church and this was felt to be a good move as it can be heard better thus helping the congregation.

Youth and Children in Church. Children in church are desirable. When they are not there they are missed. Tensions between demands of teaching and need to be in church were discussed and Trevor was asked to carry this concern back to the teachers.

Similarly, the Youth in the church should be encouraged to attend worship, not only at those times when they are actively taking part in the service, e.g. reading, sidespersons etc.

Service 29th November. Trevor thought that to have Advent. Pledge Sunday and a baptism in the same service was a lot to combine, but the worship committee felt this could be done and David was willing to put some concrete ideas forward and organise this service.

Future Dates. In addition to the usual array of services for Christmas Trevor suggested a short service on Christmas Eve at 16.00 to last for about 4o minutes, after some discussion, expressing reservations, the committee gave its approval.

David suggested that a singles event in the Church Hall of Christmas Day would be a good idea and will pursue its realisation. This might take the form of a meal around 15.00.

A New Year's Eve Watchnight Service was suggested.

January 6th, Epiphany has a children's event at 16.00 in the Church Hall and a Communion Service at 18.00 in the Church.

January 13th at 19.30 is the service in church with the Evangelische Allianz.

January 25th there will be a Family Communion service at the Family Service slot. Trevor has a shortened liturgy which might be suitable. This would be followed by a Pot Luck Lunch for the whole Church Family. Note was taken of Leong's group now to meet on Sundays after church, combining Fellowship. Bible Study and lunch.

Next meeting is on January 5th 1993 at 19.30.

The meeting closed with the grace.
