The money we raise via our services is not just used for running our church. We often have special collections for charities that we support. This year we gave away the following amounts to charity:
- Tear Fund or ena! as they are now called, received CHF 2’865 collected at our Harvest festival, including the auction afterwards – a record amount, as well as CHF 470 from the Nativity play collection and CHF 160 from our Junior Church members. This is a whopping CHF 3’495 for the water project plus a further CHF 910 from our Christmas Eve and Christmas day services. Our congregation are very generous.
- Passentenhilfe received donations from the Men’s Group, the Christmas Card signing and Mission Sunday totalling CHF 1’322, which is in addition to the donation from the St Ursula Charitable Association of CHF 2’000.
- The Royal British Legion received CHF 507 from the collection on Remembrance Sunday
- Cecily’s fund received the collections from Thun and Fribourg Carol Services totally just under CHF 450 in addition to the donation from the St Ursula’s Charitable Association of CHF 2’420. There was also the soup lunch which raised money for this cause.
- The Heiliggeist collection this year was around CHF 750 after expenses and distributed by the Bruder Klaus church.
Thank you all for your wonderful generosity to our church and to our charities. You can find out more about the charities we support on our charities page. Don’t forget the Bishops Advent Appeal which is still open for donations, more information in this post. If you wish to give to our church as well in what remains of 2025, then this would be very welcome. You can give to either of our accounts, depending on if you want to save some tax as well. See our Giving page for more details. If you are giving towards the kitchen, please mark the donation as such.
