Being Church at All Times 27-5-2026

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

It was wonderful to celebrate Pentecost together last Sunday, and thank you to all who made such delicious food to share after the service.

A big thank you too to all those who helped with the gardening last Saturday. The church garden looks transformed. The team worked very hard and it was very satisfying to see the result. Thank you especially to Alison Beindorrf who organised the morning.

Trinity Sunday, 31st May
This coming Sunday we celebrate Trinity Sunday. It will also be a Sung Eucharist.

Commissioning Service, Sunday 7th June
On 7th June, we will be giving thanks for and praying for all those who serve our church in so many different ways. We will pray for God’s Spirit to empower us in all that we do as we work together as the Body of Christ. As we give thanks for those who serve in different ways, it is also an opportunity for us all to consider how we might contribute our skills and time for the good of the whole church community.

Summer Fete, Saturday 20th June
The Summer Fete is fast approaching. Do please put this in your diary and come along with your friends and family.
We need more volunteers to make cakes, scones and cookies, and to run stalls during the day. It would be especially good to have some new, younger volunteers. It is a great way to get to know others in the church and in the wider community.
If you can help in any way, please do let Maria know in the office: office@stursula.ch

Pope Leo (and Dominic Roser!) on the use of AI
You may find Pope Leo’s new encyclical (official teaching document) on this topic helpful:
Encyclical Letter of His Holiness Leo XIV Magnifica Humanitas (15 May 2026)
There will also be an opportunity for us to reflect together on this topic after the service on Sunday 28th June, when Dominic Roser (lecturer in Ethics at Fribourg University) will give a talk and lead a discussion.

I leave you with a poem for Trinity Sunday:

Trinity Sunday
In the Beginning, not in time or space,
But in the quick before both space and time,
In Life, in Love, in co-inherent Grace,
In three in one and one in three, in rhyme,
In music, in the whole creation story,
In his own image, his imagination,
The Triune Poet makes us for his glory,
And makes us each the other’s inspiration.
He calls us out of darkness, chaos, chance,
To improvise a music of our own,
To sing the chord that calls us to the dance,
Three notes resounding from a single tone,
To sing the End in whom we all begin;
Our God beyond, beside us, and within.

With love in Christ,

Helen
