We have just received the latests Chaplaincy Briefing from the Diocese in Europe, and they are asking for your involvement in the following three areas:
1. Help Shape Strategy.
The first request for help is to help shape their strategy for the next few years. You can read more about this here, and also fill in an online form with your thoughts.
2. Stand for General Synod
New clergy and lay members are being elected to General Synod this year – and you are invited to stand as a candidate.
General Synod is the National Assembly of the Church of England. It shapes and approves laws that affect the whole of the Church of England. In Autumn 2026, elections are happening for new General Synod members. Those elected will serve for five years.
Almost anyone who attends church regularly is likely to be eligible to stand as a lay member. You don’t need to be a member of a Chaplaincy Council or our Diocesan Synod.
They are looking for candidates who represent the whole range of people and churches in the Church of England, and they particularly welcome candidates whose background may currently be underrepresented.

3. Lay learning course – sign up now for September
The hugely popular ‘Walking Together in Faith’ online course is now open to everyone.
With online, fortnightly sessions from Sept 8th through to June 2027, this course helps delve deeper into our faith together. Meet people from across our diocese in the discussion groups.
