Being Church At All Times 316

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I hope that many of you enjoyed the Swiss National Day celebrations. Thanks to all those who organised the celebratory brunch at church. It was good to spend time together.

All Age Eucharist, 9th August

This coming Sunday will be an All Age service with the children taking part in the service in different ways. I hope the families will come along…but also people of all ages!

Men’s Group Retreat

Our church Men’s Group will be holding a day retreat on Saturday 29th August. Mary-Lou Melville has kindly offered use of her lovely home and garden in Muri. The retreat will run from approximately 10:00 – 16:00. There will be three short talks with plenty of time and space for reflection, prayer and silence.

On this occasion, I will be giving some input and suggestions for the silence on the theme ‘Come, See, Stay: Following Jesus’: reflections based on passages from John’s gospel.

All men are welcome. David will send further details to all on the Men’s Group email list. If you’re not already on this list and would like to take part, please email David at revdem63@yahoo.co.uk.

Church Break-In

As many of you already know, there was a break-in to the church house and the church office, on Friday 24th July, during the day. Not much was stolen but there was a big mess to sort out. They climbed in, having taken out the window and frame of the downstairs toilet next to the front door. This was hidden by the wisteria and other plants there, which we have since cut back. This break in reminds us that we need to be vigilant. Please keep your eyes open in case you ever see anything suspicious in the church grounds. We are also looking into better security measures.

LOOKING AHEAD…

Summer

When young-leafed June is summoned by the sun,

And new-mown grass breathes fragrance through the air,

When work is over, holidays begun,

May peace and pleasure in themselves be prayer.

And in your leisure may you hear the one

Who is your blessing and by whom you’re blest

Still calling you: Come unto me and rest.

(Malcolm Guite)

With love in Christ,

Helen
