Where will our journey take us?
Week 1 kicked off on the 13th September when we gave everyone a special pack. This contained the information that you can download here, as well as a bookmark and a packet of seeds to sow. The Information outlined our aims and vision as well as a short financial overview. The children also received a pack containing their own information, the seeds, bookmark, a pencil and a chocolate coin. Some packs for each group are available for those who were not present at the kick off.
Week 2 was on the 20th September, the 120th anniversary of the church building. This is a week to celebrate, so we marked it by looking at the steps taken over the last 120 years, both in Bern and in the wider world. The service itself was also one of celebration. See the separate news post about the 120th celebrations. A further action we took during the party after the service was our 120 envelopes action. We hung 120 envelopes numbered from 1 to 120, and the community was invited to take one or more envelope and donate the amount in CHF of the number on the front. It had mixed success, but we did raise over 1400 CHF of the possible CHF 7260, so we made a start. The envelopes will be available on the next 2 sundays of this campaign.
We also ran a pop up food and book sale, which were also limited in appeal but we did draw in some people from outside for those and they stayed to join in the fun. This has to be seen as a success.
