Wednesday 12 March 2025
Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
I hope that Lent has begun well for you and it proves to be a fruitful time for reflection, prayer, action and growth.
Morning Prayer (online)
During Lent, we are saying Morning Prayer together at 8.30am, Monday - Thursday, via Zoom. Do join us. Ask for details of the Zoom link.
Lent Quiet Morning
I will be leading a Quiet Morning This Saturday, 15th March 9.30am - 1pm (in church). This will include reflection on Scripture, silence and prayer. I will give three short reflections and offer suggestions for meditation and prayer during the periods of silence. Do take up this opportunity for space in the midst of our busy lives. Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to come.
Lent Eco Challenge
The Eco Group is offering a Lent Eco Challenge. The details of this are in our recent Eco newsletter. If like to know more about this and other activities/resources, do sign up to the Eco Newsletter, using this link.

Our Spring Sale is on Saturday 22nd March, 10am - 2pm. This will include our book stall, British food stall, and cake stall. The cafe will be open for coffee, cakes and snacks. Do come along and bring your friends!

Earth Hour
On Saturday 22nd March, 8.30pm - 9.30pm is Earth Hour. People all over the world will be switching off electric lights and other electrical equipment to raise awareness of climate change.
We will be offering an Earth Hour Liturgy in church (by candlelight) which will include readings, Taize songs, time for prayer, and sharing our Eco actions this Lent. Please arrive by 8.20pm that evening so that you are seated with a candle etc before the lights are switched off!
If you want to know more about the history of Earth Hour you can find more information here.
Prayer for Lent
Lent may be a time for discipline and pruning, but it is also a time for growth and fruitfulness. We might like to use the prayer below:
As the days lengthen and the earth spends longer in the light of day,
grant that I may spend longer in the light of your presence, O Lord;
and may those seeds of your Word, which have been long-buried within me, grow,
like everything else around me, into love for you and love for others;
that this Lent there may be a springtime for my life in Christ.
Amen.

With love in Christ,
Helen
