Giving to St Ursula’s Church
Deuteronomy 16:17:
“All shall give as they are able, according to the blessing of the Lord your God that he has given you.”
St Ursula’s Church was built in 1906 and has grown into a diverse, multinational congregation united in the love of Christ. As the English-speaking Anglican Church in Bern, we receive no Church tax, no state funding, and no financial help from the Church of England. We are entirely self-supporting.
Each year, we must raise around CHF 234,000 to keep our ministry alive and thriving. Your support—whether as a one-time gift or ongoing pledge—is essential to everything we do.
We rely on multiple sources of income including:
▪️Regular pledges and one-off donations
▪️Sunday collections
▪️ Fundraising events
▪️Renting out our premises
All of these help, but regular pledging is the most reliable and important. It gives us the confidence to plan for the future, support our ministry, and invest in growth and outreach—including our commitment to being an eco-friendly church.
80% of our expenses are within the Church—salaries, worship, children’s ministry, and more. The remaining is used for maintaining our beautiful and protected building and charitable giving to various charities in Switzerland and abroad.
🪙 Sunday Collection
Give during our 10am Sunday service. (We prefer notes, as they’re easier to bank.) You can also give via Twint via the code on the service sheets, or at the card machine in the hall.
💳 Card or Twint
You can give with any bank or credit card at the SumUp machine in the Upper Hall or via Twint (QR codes available on the service sheet and in the hall). Twint can be used for paying at our events, or for small donations for coffee etc. There is also a specific Twint code for tax deductible donations on the notice board near the hall door.
